“We were never taught to own who we are” These are the wise words expressed by Lizette Volkwyn as she launched her first book titled ‘Finding Me’ a self-discovery adventure.
Lizette is a Master Coach whose desire is to empower individuals to excel in life and to help people to explore their true self, giving them the gift of self-acceptance and empowerment.
She is one of the only two people in the country that is an expert at Human Lie Detection, NLP, Training and Inspirational Speaker. Lizette describes her journey of self-discovery as one of the hardest things she’s ever had to do; however, it created zeal in her that drove her to write a book to inspire others to find the power within themselves.
She started writing the book ten years ago when she discovered that her children were grown and doing well at school, her husband was also doing great in his career, and that’s when it dawned on her to probe internally to ask herself the question ‘Where did I lose myself?’ “The purpose of the book is to help people to explore themselves and ask themselves questions that they fear the answers too,” she said.
Lizette emphasises that this is a, not just a read, as it pushes people to dig deep within the self; it has many assignments that are designed to drive a person to deal with all their fears and the masked up facades aim at pleasing people. The dynamic author walks me through her journey of finding herself; she spoke about her insecurities and how she hated feeling rejected, so she became a copy-cat defining herself according to other people’s standards and abilities.
“We were never taught to have ‘me’ time and to give ourselves compliments, and I had a conversation with myself and asked who am I exactly after all the labels have been stripped away.
I’m a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt and a good sales person, but if I take all that away, who am I really?, what are my core values, what makes me happy and what get me to that place of happiness without relying on others to validate that” she probed.
She tells me that she took a self-discovery life course as the first step of herself discovery journey and that has helped her tremendously in being authentic, confident and sincere in herself and beliefs. “My mantra in life is ‘Attitude Is Everything’ and understandings that I can own who I am then I’ve got the control” she added.
She spoke about the self-help techniques that you will find in her book and how she perceives rejection as a person’s perception and projection of her, which has absolutely nothing to do with her.
Lizette will have another launch at the Wanderers Country Club on the 21st of July from 9.00am to 12.00 pm and get the tickets you contact her 072 431 2023 or email her on email@example.com or check out her website at www.lizette volkwyn.com
