St Andrew’s Pupil, Kerryn Herbst, makes Youth Olympic Qualifying Time at PE Swim Champs

Kerryn Herbst, St Andrew’s for Girls swam an Olympic qualifying time at the Port Elizabeth Swimming Championships last week

At the South African Senior National Swimming Championships in Port Elizabeth, supported by Swimming SA’s partners: Sport and Recreation SA, SASCOC, National Lotteries Commission, Arena and Rand Water – St Andrew’s School for Girls learner, Kerryn Herbst, a grade 10 pupil participated and excelled. She achieved the following:

    • 50m backstroke senior bronze medal (open) with a Youth Olympic qualifying time.
    • 50m butterfly – bronze medal youth elite ( 18 & under )
    • 100m backstroke – bronze medal youth elite ( 18 & under )
    • 100m backstroke – senior bronze medal ( open )

The final team selection for the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina, the AUSC Region Five U20 Youth Games in Gaborone, Botswana and the African Youth Games in Algiers, Algeria will be selected by SASCOC. Swimming SA selects the final team for the Senior Africa Swimming Championships.
